It's hard to believe but my little girls turned 5 last week. When did that happen? Just kidding - I'm not going to lie - it didn't go fast most of the time. I would say until about a year ago the day-to-day parenting was quite difficult with two sets of twins. A friend said to me once "The days are long but the years are fast."
But it is faster now, and it's scary. I said about a year ago to my husband that we need to really enjoy and make the most out of these next few years while they are ALL in that kid stage. No babies. No tweens or teenagers. Just great, somewhat independent kids that can go and do and still enjoy a bunch of really fun things.
So how did my littles celebrate becoming big girls? (In my mind, 5 is the beginning of a big kid, but now my 8 yr olds are considered REALLY big kids.)
On their actual birthday we went to Souper Salad for lunch (their new favorite restaurant that for years I have wanted to be able to take them to but did not see how getting all that food would work with toddlers and such in tow). Both their grandmothers and one grandfather were able to join us. Mike took the day off work and unfortunately was so awfully sick that he spent the entire day in bed, even when we got home and opened presents. Of all the days!
Anyway, here they are having their ice cream dessert. Big girls mean they get cones! (The last time they got a cone was about 6 months ago and swore them off due to an awful mess.)
After lunch we went home for balloons and presents!
And a few hoops on our new basketball goal. Love the outfit - bow, frilly skirt, and sparkly vans tennies - just perfect for any girl playing ball!
Then this weekend we had the actual birthday party. These girls wanted to be like their big sisters and have a party at Sweet N Sassy. Here they are getting all done up!

Of course cake is STILL their favorite part of any birthday.

Oh my goodness...what beautiful big 5 yr olds you have! They look so sweet in all these pics and are having so much fun. It's funny how time can seem to go so quick but so slow at the same time isn't it? Happy Birthday to your sweet girls and congrats Mum and Dad for making it this far lol!!
