The Big 1-0

Well, my big girls are entering their tweens. The next decade. Wow. It is so weird to think they are 10 years old. I've been a mom for 10 years. On their actual birthday they went to kids college (a camp program), and due to the craziness of it being their birthday, we were running late and I got pulled over, just before the middle school where the kids college was at! Kind of embarrassing. But seriously the nicest cop ever. He actually gave me a warning. Then told me when he found out it was their birthday that he SHOULD write me a ticket for making them go to school on their birthday. I made sure he knew it was "fun" school.

In the afternoon we celebrated with ice cream!

And that night we had a family dinner at the Olive Garden.

PaPa handmade bows and arrows and gave them to Kaitlyn and Mackenzie. A bit dangerous but really neat. He teaches archery and makes bows and arrows.

MeMe gave Kaitlyn this spotted pink weiner dog. Everything about this dog has Kaitlyn written all over it!

Mackenzie got clothes and both girls got new earrings.

Since Kaitlyn asks us 4,000 times a day for a puppy which we are not ready for at this point in time, we decided to give her a reptile since she has such a love for catching lizards outside. This is Freddy, an eyelash crested gecko. She got him 2 1/2 months ago and he is still alive and well. Yay, us! Supposedly he is one of the easiest reptiles to keep alive so we knew he was the one for us. And we are finally getting good use out of the tank!

Mackenzie and Kaitlyn had their archery lesson. It wasn't their first time. Pretty cool. And our backyard's big enough to do it right at home.

Happy Birthday to these girls - it is weird to see them really growing up and kind of entering a new phase in life!
