Sunday Afternoon at the Houston Temple

A few weeks ago we decided to take the kids to the Houston LDS Temple. They hear about the temple a lot, especially since their grandparents are weekly temple workers. They've seen pictures, but they've never been up close. The temple is about a 50-minute drive from our house, on the other side of town. So we thought it would be nice to take the kids while the flowers are in bloom and the weather is still nice.

Overall the girls enjoyed walking around the temple grounds and seeing the flowers. They were surprised at how big the temple is. We had one bit of a spoiled sport. Someone is going through a phase where everything is boring. But you wouldn't know it by looking at our pictures - we got some really nice ones too! Here are just a few of them:

The highlight of our day was discovering that even though the temple was closed there was a side-door that actually was open just to an area that had bathrooms! Thank you whoever made THAT decision. Restroom access is essential with young children!

And then they had a phone there as well for public use and so the kids had fun calling MeMe to tell them where they were!

It made for a nice Sunday afternoon.

  1. I haven't seen pictures of this temple before, absolutely beautiful. With 4 kids I think it hard to make it fun for everyone!
