Lost Pines - Movie Night & Pony Rides

Well another vacation come and gone. They go pretty fast when you refuse to stay longer than 3 nights. And it was just right. We went to the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort in Bastrop, TX about 30 minutes outside of Austin.

Here we are at movie night (which is every night) on their lawn. The kids loved getting free popcorn and "smurrs" (S'mores), as Reagan called them, every night.  The little girls usually didn't make it through the whole thing but they liked the excitement of it for a while.

Here it is as people slowly gathered. The lawn was full by the time it was dark.

The next day....it took forever to get our "activities" lined up. We had to stand at the desk for about 30 minutes. That was fun. This horse and Indian could only babysit my kids for so long. 

First on the activities, pony rides!  Oddly, the big girls didn't fit into any "horse" category.  We thought we could all go to the pony rides, which were for ages 2-7. They're 7 but too tall. The regular trail rides they were tall enough, but you had to be 8. It was apparent they unfortunately just weren't going to be riding horses. Okay then. So I took the little girls.

First is Reagan. The guides said she was a champ and just hopped right up almost entirely by herself! Not really surprising. Reagan is very adept and coordinated and seems to pick up just about everything. It will be fun to watch her talents develop.

She really just took it all in, was mostly quiet, and seemed to enjoy herself.

Then there was Ashley. I gotta tell ya, she is one unique and funny kid. She is absolutely adorable but she is a pill!  This is the face she made the ENTIRE time. She cooperated but REFUSED to talk to anyone or have any other look on her face. I don't really know if she was mad about something or just wanting to be a stinker to be a stinker. The guides didn't seem amused which made me kind of sad. It is a bit funny though.

Look closely. It's still there. Oh, and her pony's name is Buddy.

Finally, a slightly different expression. You can see the brow is still furled but the lips aren't quite as protruding.

This windmill, however, cooperated beautifully for its picture!
