Port Aransas Vacation

We spent most of our last week of summer in Port Aransas, just north of Corpus Christi. Even though we went there last year, we were invited to stay in a beach house with friends so after months of indecisiveness about where to vacation we decided to take our friends up on their idea.

Me and the girls:

Like my cover up? Looks like what we used to do in the 5th grade. But hey, it was functional!

The girls found lots of interesting things on the beach. A clam:

A crab:

And lots and lots of crawdads! Poor things - they didn't stand a chance. The kids tried to throw some back into the ocean when it was time to leave, but the seagulls were one step ahead of us. They plucked those things out immediately upon entering the water. Sorry crawdads.

Here are all the kids (minus one infant). We were quite the crew! 3 families, 10 kids. And the 2 boys let's just say were quite enamored of our big girls. It was cute.

The girls got to take turns also spending the night at their grandparents' house in Corpus. While the big girls were gone, we fed our little girls to a shark!

But then decided to keep them and take them back to the beach house.

The next day we met the grandparents (who brought us Kaitlyn and Mackenzie) at the Texas State Aquarium. Overall it's a really good aquarium. We sat in the scorching heat for the dolphin show. Pretty cool that it has a dolphin show, except that the dolphins did about two tricks (I am not exaggerating). I have to admit it was lame. I mean, I wasn't expecting SeaWorld quality but come on. Mike took the girls a few years ago and based on the multitude of pictures he took at the dolphin show I expected much more than what we got. Nonetheless, Penzie Wenzie (as her OTHER grandparents call her), sat primed for front row splashing. She got what she wanted!

They also fed the stingrays. That proved to be more difficult than it looked.

Kaitlyn really enjoyed it though. She stayed extra long, as evidenced by the fish smell that stayed with her for 2 days!

We switched kids after the aquarium and spent one last relaxing night at the beach house. Next day it was back to the land of sugar (otherwise known as Sugar Land) so we could attend meet the teacher that afternoon. And that my friends, wraps up our summer!

And just for fun, I had to post this picture of my husband. Does he look hot or what? Sorry but I'm one lucky girl! Those high school boys from 20 years ago ain't got nothing on him! Hope you don't mind me bragging on my hubby, but I just really like the photo! (He will probably not like it though, he's too modest. Only he rarely reads my blog so he won't know!)
