Field Trip to the Livestock Show

On the same day the little girls had their petting zoo and pony rides at preschool, the big girls had their field trip to the livestock show at the Houston Rodeo. I was signed up to chaperone, but the unfortunate part is that Kaitlyn woke up sick. It was one of those mornings where you wonder if you can just give her some medicine and then she'll rally. I would hate for her to miss out if that turned out to be the case. She got to school and decided to give it a try.

They let her actually ride with me instead of on the bus, but once we got there it was SO MUCH walking. Just getting from the car to the livestock show was a major ordeal. That was all it took to do her in. I dragged her around while trying to chaperone Mackenzie's group. She didn't look at anything. Kaitlyn moved from bench to bench at these little posts while Mackenzie saw all the animals.

Mackenzie and animals:

including a brand new baby cow

and some rabbits to name a few.

We finally moved on to the pig races. The Aggie pig won - woo hoo!

We saw a swimming pig too. Go Swifty go! Go Swifty go! That little pig can jump!

I snapped one cute picture of Kaitlyn. Don't be fooled by the smile. This was the only one that day. We left after the pig races. Poor girl - she ended up with her second bout of strep throat this year. Who knew? What's worse - a week later she tested positive a THIRD time for it - round 2's antibiotic didn't work! Ugh! But you wouldn't know it here? Adorable photos of both my girls.

Mackenzie ended up having a really good time. I think it was one of her more favorite field trips. Total bummer that Kaitlyn couldn't enjoy it but that's how it goes sometimes. At least one of them had fun!
