Birthday Pictures

Happy 6th Birthday to Kaitlyn and Mackenzie! Even though Kaitlyn had just gotten sick, and even though we knew this being the third day of the illness (experts now that she was the 4th one to get it) should be the worst day, we were hopeful since she went to bed the night before feeling good and woke up on her birthday in a happy mood and feeling great. Maybe hers wouldn't be as bad as the others?

MeMe came early to give them their presents, including these little carnation bouquets!

Among their gifts included their very own suitcases!  A great idea since every time they travel over night they dig into the plastic grocery sacks to pack up their stuff.  Now they can travel in style!

Of course the little girls had to take their turns pulling a suitcase, or two.

Then Kaitlyn started to feel bad by lunchtime.  She was fading fast...
NaNaw came and Kaitlyn insisted on opening more presents against Mommy's better judgment.

The day continued to go south.  She was beyond sick.  Lots of terrible terrible pain and writhing and crying.  But when Dad came home she insisted again on opening her presents.  I couldn't get her to rest and relax until she had opened them.  So I told Mike that we might as well let her.

Then this is what sent her over the edge.  No I did not put this giant box on top of her.  (It wasn't heavy though.)
This was the last moment before the vomiting began.  Sorry to be gross, but that's what the day was.  She was done opening presents for the day.

Mackenzie was thrilled to pull her pink piggy pillow pet out of her box!  Kaitlyn's remained in the box for a very long time.

A miserable night, lots of medication, an ER visit and 24 hours later, Kaitlyn perked up and we were finally able to finish the presents.  Mackenzie was happy too.  Sadly, even though SHE felt great, her birthday had to wait also.  She went to bed crying that is was a terrible birthday.  Who could blame her?  But I told her we'd be celebrating all week long, and so we are.

Happy once again!

Kaitlyn and her long-awaited bug home!

And lastly, we have a third set of twins now in the house!

All's well that ends well, right?
