New Church...or Not

In keeping with the faith topic, we’ve had some big changes at our church recently. A new church (of the same faith) was built nearby in another neighborhood. In our church you are pretty much supposed to go to your church according to the boundary where you live. Well, we knew we would be close to whatever boundary the local church officials agreed upon. So for 6 months we were in limbo, not knowing if we would be going to the brand new building but with mostly the same congregation (called a ward) we’d been with for the last 5 years. Or, would we stay in the building we’ve been in, but join back with a ward we lived in before we bought the house we’re in now?

Here’s the new church a few months before it opened. The outside was mostly done but the inside had a way to go.

So what was the verdict? As of Jan.1, we rejoined our old ward at the same old church we’ve been going to. While we are going to miss seeing many of the families we’ve been used to seeing on a regular basis, it’s exciting to spend more time with so many we already had relationships with, instead of just seeing them in passing in the halls of the church.

So lots of changes this year. I like change though. It keeps life interesting.
