Kaitlyn, who's always looking for something new to draw, started drawing her own picture of President Monson as he was delivering his address. Her picture was actually really good! So my step-dad took it and mailed it to him.
About 10 days went by when Kaitlyn received a letter in the mail...from the office of President Thomas S. Monson.
Now, he did not write the letter himself, it was from his secretary. But still, how sweet to acknowledge the humble gestures of a child when so many great things must weigh so heavily on his heart.
She was elated! She took it to church on Easter Sunday and showed the whole junior primary. Then she announced that her picture was better than the one in the Conference Activity Booklet for kids (because it was and we told her so). She was excited, just not modest! Anyway, her picture and the letter will be a keepsake forever.
How exciting for her! And I love the bluebonnet pictures. I am not sure how you got them all (1) to look at the camera (2) with a smile and (3) at the same time! I keep putting off a family picture because I am dreading the exhaustion of trying to get them all to look halfway happy at the prospect of standing still. Or even getting them to stand still. You guys should go into modeling! :)
