Before it gets too far away from me, here's just a quick recap of the 4th of July!
We started off the morning going to a local Family Freedom Walk (It was SO hard to get up but I vowed to be a more active family so off we went). The walk was nice except we were about 10 minutes late and we were literally all alone on the walk. It was kind of a bummer but still nice. Reagan actually said it was her favorite part of the day (of course she had a nice ride in the stroller).
But it must have paid off because last week we get in the mail 4 Club Level tickets to the Astros Game, that we won as a door prize in the Freedom Walk. Woo hoo!
Then we went to the church breakfast and the kids had a great time.
Later we went to the pool. Then met my parents for dinner, at which point the kids were all on the verge of a mini-meltdown from their marathon day of activity. But a little food in their systems and they started perking up.
Then it was onto the local fireworks celebration.
While there was tons going on, this year the park didn't have as much for the kids, so we sat around while the big girls spent about 30 minutes in line just to spin some wheel and win some fake vampire teeth. Really? On the 4th of July we're giving out vampire teeth?
Then we went to watch the fireworks. It was Ashley and Reagan's first time. We had warned them about the noise. The minute the first one went off, Ashley went ballistic, in a good way! She took her hands off her ears and screamed, "I don't want to cover my ears! I want to hear them!" And then she proceded to go crazy after almost every single firework for the next 20 minutes. "Whoa!!! Wow!!! Cool!! That was a BIG one!!" Then she would kick her legs and go crazy. Then she'd look at Mackenzie and tell her that they should be quiet but then the next one would burst and she'd scream again. It was awesome! She was just as entertaining as the fireworks (which had one of the best finales I've ever seen).
Reagan wasn't too sure but she covered her ears and at least enjoyed the view. She was definitely happy though when they were over.
It was a full and great day!

Wow! Sounds like you guys had a busy, but fun Fourth!
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh at the vampire teeth. I don't get it...
Glad the little girls enjoyed the fireworks. We haven't taken the quads to any fireworks shows yet. Between the crowds and the late times, we just haven't tried yet.
Oh! and enjoy the Astros game! That should be fun. Are you going to be able to get two more tickets or are you just going to take two girls?
That definitely sounds like a great way to spend the holiday!!! Your big twins look so grown up in that one picture!!!
