The first grade got to take their field trip to the Bayou Wildlife Park in Alvin. I've always wanted to check this place out but have never been. It was definitely a fun field trip. It was cool and wet but tolerable. The other teachers said we were really lucky because we were the only school there that day so there were no lines. We rode a tram through all kinds of animals that were all just running around. Each child got a bucket full of food and they would just hold out their hands and the animals would come eat. Some of the animals were gentle and some were really aggressive - like the ostriches and the camel!
The kids all thought it was just hilarious and awesome. It was so fun to see them laughing so much. This was my girls' third field trip so far and definitely their favorite.
Look at all the animals just roaming around behind us as the tram pulled away. Llamas, buffalo, ostriches, elk, deer, wildebeest, zebra, African longhorn, all to name a few. A mom friend of mine who is from Mexico said she loved it because she said this place was a bit crazy and reminded her more of somewhere they would go in Mexico but we all agreed it was fun. Definitely not your typical zoo. And better than the wildlife park we drove through in San Antonio. The tram ride is a great idea!
