The Christmas Festivities Continue...

Now that my kids are all school-aged, I feel like in December we barely come up for air. And when your kids are into singing, dancing, skating, and those types of things, there are lots of Christmas performances of all kinds!

So in addition to singing at Town Center and Christmas dance recitals and competitions, the fun continues. More fun and special moments before Christmas include the following:

A visit to Bass Pro Shop's Santa's Workshop. It was kind of neat but really just okay. I think our kids seemed a bit old to enjoy it. And the wait to see Santa was like 2 hours, of course you could play around in the store, but we didn't have 2 hours worth of things to do there. Though I heard after that the visit with Santa there is really great. That's okay though because we always see the real Santa at our friend's house which I knew was coming soon.

Then it was dance party and performance week at the studio. Reagan did her tap, ballet, and jazz dances. Ashley was also in the jazz dance! I know they had fun performing those!

Mackenzie also had a really fun variety dance to Little Drummer Boy that included tap, hip hop and jazz. She did both tap and jazz and it was REALLY cute!

Mackenzie was in the school spelling bee! She had come home from dance competition rather sick, and she particularly had lost most of her voice! Perfect for a spelling bee. But she did fine. She finished I'd say in the top third. She could have gone farther but like many of the kids made a careless mistake. It's hard when you can't SEE the word! Her word she missed was "argumentative." She skipped to the 2nd "t!" Dang. Oh well. Super proud of her for being a part of it and qualifying to begin with!

The 5th grade did their Christmas play. It too was really cute! Mackenzie had a small singing part and also a dancing part. Really loved the dance - thought they did a very good job for a bunch of mostly non-dancers. Mackenzie thought their dance was kind of boring but it was not - very fun!

Kaitlyn was a hillbilly and also had a singing part. She sounded like an angel when she sang - so clear!

We had a Girl Scouts gift exchange and little party after doing a small service project.

Mackenzie played..."Let It Go" in her piano recital!

We went with MeMe, NaNaw, and Aunt Chrissie to see the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular. So festive and fun. If only our mini-van reindeer antler hadn't flown off on the freeway!

And our usual visit to see the real Santa at our friends' house, the Markwalters. He is definitely a jolly old self!

By this time, we were knee-deep into some serious wrapping and getting our last minute preparations ready!
